The "Ojaja Pan Africa Limited," led by the Ooni of Ife, represents a transformative approach to economic development and poverty alleviation in Nigeria. Since its inception, the initiative has distributed 3 million cocoa seedlings, first in 2016 and again in 2021 in collaboration with AFEX, under the Ojaja Pan African Cocoa Revolution platform. By providing land to farmers and focusing on cocoa, a high-demand cash crop, this project aims to elevate local economies and create sustainable livelihoods. It targets the agricultural sector, a vital component of Nigeria's economy, to empower small-scale farmers and drive long-term economic growth. The Ojaja Pan African Cocoa Revolution aligns traditional leadership with modern development goals, making it a powerful model for community-driven progress. Notably, no government or establishment has undertaken such a comprehensive effort since Nigeria's independence. The initiative has garnered attention from international organizations such as IITA, AfDB, and the Cocoa Research Institute, and has been featured by reputable international news agencies like CNN and Al Jazeera, highlighting its unprecedented impact. In recognition of this success, the Cocoa Farmers Association appointed the Ooni of Ife as their Grand Patron in 2022 in Ondo State, Akure. By providing both resources and leadership, the Ojaja Pan African Cocoa Revolution is set to serve as a blueprint for similar efforts across Africa, lifting communities out of poverty.
